I just found an interview with John Inman on YT that I'd never seen before (always a pleasant find). It looks like it was only posted a month ago, but certainly possible that it's been available on other channels before.

If you do a search, it's "John Inman Interview WLIW" - There are two parts, and it was during one of his many visits to the USA.

In the interview he discusses the show, how it got started, his character, and how David Croft invited him to do the pilot.

He also discussed Grace and Favour, saying it was actually highly successful with fans and that there should have been a season 3. In fact, he goes through the potential storyline Jeremy Lloyd had been preparing for the first episode of the third season - I had always wondered if they had already written some or all of the third season ahead of time.

However, to be completely honest, I did not like the premise of the new episode. My hope was that they continued to nurture the relationship between Mr. Humphries and Mavis going forward, however Lloyd's idea went in another direction. It was only an idea at this point though; the actual script might have been much different.

Very interesting to watch for those who have not seen it yet.

John Inman, of course, toured more than the other actors and really enjoyed talking to fans and doing interviews.
