During an interview with the writers/producers, I remember them saying that Mollie always told her famous jokes perfectly with a straight face, never even cracking a smile.

Wendy, on the other hand, would bust up laughing at them constantly and they would have to reshoot the scene over and over again.

One of these scenes actually got left in - During the staff meeting in S3E6, they are all sitting around the table waiting for Mr. Rumbold to arrive. Mrs. Slocombe tells one of her jokes and Wendy just about breaks character and cannot stop smiling at it.

@changingfloors This technique seems to be very common with comedies. The Golden Girls come to mind with that "Herring" episode. Seems to be very common for actors particularly in comedies to find a "weak" one to get them to mess up!

@admineml2 Yes, I think it was a combination of that and also the writers "pushing the limits" of their double entendres while still getting the episode to air.

Funny that both Mollie and her sons pretended not to know the meaning behind the jokes, when in reality they all knew. I'll bet the boys got a huge kick out of watching the show and seeing their mother on television.

It would be great to see a far more lengthy interview with these individuals. While growing up, I'm sure they came to know the other AYBS actors as well, not to mention other shows that Mollie appeared on.
